Higher Education

Today's college and university students are hungry for healthy, satisfying meals.

They eat fast and they work hard. They want a quality, value-for-money food offer, brought to them by brands they recognise and relate to – and that’s exactly what we deliver.

To help students thrive in and out of the classroom, Compass partners closely with clients and students to create unique and popular dining environments. We execute our strategic approach with programmes and promotions in locations that are complementary to our clients’ campus master plan.

The college / university experience is one of self-discovery, lifelong memories and emerging independence. Knowing that students will soon be fending for themselves, Compass uses creative programmes to instil a lifelong habit of eating right.

Excellence in action

  • In North America, we operate Dine on Campus – our interactive health and wellness resource, which in the USA was awarded a Nation's Restaurant News Technology Innovator Award for its innovative approach to integrating technology with campus dining.

Here students can quickly look at the daily menu, find outlet locations and operating hours, submit their favourite recipes, purchase meal plans or manage their dining service account. There is an online comment card to capture feedback, and most importantly, students can find a wealth of nutrition and wellness resources.
  • Chartwells UK has helped Oxford Brookes become a leading university for ethical sourcing and achieve a series of accolades, including the world’s first university to attain Fairtrade status, the first UK university to use the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) logo on its menus and receive the Good Egg Award.

Gillian Almond, Deputy Director of Hospitality Services, Oxford Brookes University, said, “As a university we are very proud of our sustainable agenda and in Chartwells we have found a partner to support this and push us forward. We share a partnership of cultures and are very happy to continue this relationship.
