HSE excellence
Here are some examples of our ongoing commitment to excellence.
- In 2008, Chartwells UK received a Silver Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), demonstrating its clear commitment to health
and safety.
The Silver status is awarded to companies that have achieved a high level of performance underpinned by good management systems which are delivering consistent improvement.
The RoSPA Silver Award is testament to Chartwells UK health and safety performance. Chartwells operates management systems that comply with the internationally recognised standards ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (management of the environment) and OHSAS 18001 (health and safety management).
- In March 2009, our Canadian business announced they are implementing their second big change on their path towards seafood sustainability – they are removing open net-pen farmed salmon from their menus.
“The leadership shown by Compass Group Canada shows they are ‘walking the talk’ of their sustainability commitment” said Shauna MacKinnon from Living Oceans Society, a SeaChoice member.
- One of the ways Chartwells Canada is letting their customers know about the change is by appealing to both sustainability and taste – a wild salmon tasting event. Foodservice Director, Andy Murray, explained: “The university students we serve are increasingly interested in food sustainability, but taste is the sure-fire way to win people over. By introducing them to both in our dining hall we hope they will support sustainable seafood on and off campus.”
