Shareholder warnings

If you have received any unsolicited calls in respect of your Compass shares, these calls are not connected with Compass Group in any way. See below to find out more about dealing with such calls.

Share Fraud Warning

Share fraud includes scams where investors are called out of the blue and offered shares that often turn out to be worthless or non-existent, or an inflated price for shares they own. These calls come from fraudsters operating in ‘boiler rooms’ that are mostly based abroad and usually result in the investor losing their money.

Protect Yourself

If you are offered unsolicited investment advice, discounted shares, a premium price for shares you own, or free company or research reports, you should take these steps before handing over any money:

  1. Get the name of the person and organisation contacting you.
  2. Check the FCA Register, which can be viewed at https://register.fca.org.uk/s/ to check whether they are authorised.
  3. Use the details on the FCA Register to contact the firm.
  4. Call the FCA Consumer Helpline on 0800 111 6768 if there are no contact details on the Register or you are told they are out of date.
  5. Search the FCA’s list of unauthorised firms and individuals to avoid doing business with.

REMEMBER: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

If you use an unauthorised firm to buy or sell share or other investments, you will not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) if things go wrong.

REPORT A SCAM

If you think you have been scammed, you can go to the below link for further advice:

To report a scam, you can complete a share fraud report:

You can also call the Consumer Helpline on 0800 111 6768 or send an email to [email protected].

Unsolicited mail

We are legally obliged to make our register of members available, subject to a proper purpose test, to the public. As a consequence of this some shareholders might receive unsolicited mail. Shareholders wishing to limit the amount of such mail should register online at www.mpsonline.org.uk or request an application form by calling from within the UK: 0845 703 4599 or by email to [email protected].

Identity theft

Advice on protecting your Compass Group PLC shares:

  • Keep all Compass correspondence in a safe place, or destroy correspondence by shredding
  • When changing address, inform the Company registrar, Link Group. If you receive a letter from Link regarding a change of address and you have not moved, contact Link immediately
  • Consider having your dividends paid directly into your bank or building society account. This will reduce the risk of the cheque being intercepted or lost in the post. On changing bank or building society account, inform Link of the details of the new account and respond to any letters Link send you about this
  • When buying or selling shares deal only with brokers registered in your country of residence or the UK
